The two milk ingredients in Organic Valley American Cheese are cheddar and butter. Both the cheddar and butter are made from non-homogenized milk.
The organic Annatto shrub fruit produces a red pulp that is used to color many different food products such as cheese, butter, confectionery, and fish. We use organic annatto coloring in Organic Valley American Slices (yellow) and Organic Valley Muenster cheese. In the case of our American Slices, the organic annatto is added to the milk so the color is uniform throughout the cheese. The rind of our Muenster is dipped into organic annatto after the cheese is finished so only the rind is colored. Organic Annatto is native to the Caribbean, Central America, and South America.
Organic Valley cheese slices are real organic sliced cheese, crafted with pasture-raised organic dairy from small organic family farms. All we do is cut it into slices to help you save some time.
Organic Valley processed cheese is made of all real ingredients and like all Organic Valley cheeses, our processed cheese is completely organic. “Processed cheese” doesn’t equate to inferior quality, either — it’s just a different way to make a cheese product.
When you do make it to the grocery store to stock up on processed cheese, make it Organic Valley. You can rest assured that it’s certified organic, comes from small family farms and isn’t chock full of ingredients you can’t pronounce. That’s just the Organic Valley way.
