Introducing an Organic Valley Milk that Puts Family First

Organic Valley is all about family — family farms, quality food for your family and now Family First ™ milk.

Family First, Organic Valley’s newest dairy product, is for milk lovers of all ages. It supports brain health and much more. It has the 12 essential nutrients found in our other milks and bonus, we’ve added 50 mg of DHA omega 3 per serving.

Omega-3 fatty acids, including DHA, have become a hot topic in recent years due to their diverse array of health benefits. Omega-3 fatty acids are polyunsaturated fats that our bodies can’t make, so we have to get them from our diet.

More About Fatty Acids

According to a 2019 study published by the National Institute of Health, Americans in all age groups did not meet the recommended daily intake of omega-3s to meet nutritional needs based on U.S. Dietary Guidelines for Americans.

Research from 2022 has shown that essential fatty acids may play a role in supporting brain health as they relate to how the brain functions, and how it impacts cognitive performance.

DHA is a long-chain omega-3s found naturally in fatty fish, such as tuna, salmon, herring and sardines.

Organic Valley Family First has 50 mg of added DHA, and also has the same 12 essential nutrients found naturally in milk. This milk is packed with calcium and has other beneficial nutrients for your family — everyone in your family.

The 12 Essential Nutrients in Milk

Dairy milk has these 12 essential nutrients that play an important role in growth and development:

  • Calcium helps build and maintain strong bones and teeth. Your body doesn’t produce calcium naturally; you need to get it from your diet, and dairy products have a high concentration per serving of calcium.
  • Protein is an important component of every cell in the body. It supports muscle tissue, is good for your bones, and serves as a source of energy during high-powered endurance exercise.
  • Vitamin D supports bone health.
  • Phosphorus works with calcium to help support strong bones. It helps generate energy in the body’s cells. Phosphorus also plays an important role in maintenance and tissue support.
  • Vitamin A helps maintain normal vision and maintains the integrity of a healthy immune system.
  • Riboflavin, also known as vitamin B2, is important for the growth, development and function of cells in the body and helps convert food into energy.
  • Vitamin B12 supports a healthy lifestyle and is naturally found in dairy products; milk, yogurt, and cheese are a great source.
  • Pantothenic acid, also known as vitamin B5, helps your body turn food into energy.
  • Niacin, also known as vitamin B3, is important for the normal function of many enzymes in the body and helps convert food to energy.
  • Zinc helps maintain healthy skin and a healthy immune system.
  • Selenium helps maintain a healthy immune system and supports a healthy metabolism.
  • Iodine supports bone and brain health.

Save Refrigerator Space

Along with providing nutrition for your family, Family First may help you save space in your fridge! Family First is a milk for the ages — no need to have a hodgepodge of milks taking up the shelf for everyone to choose from (of course, there’s always space for our chocolate milk!).

Like all Organic Valley milk, Family First comes from organically raised cows on the cooperative’s farms and is produced without antibiotics, synthetic hormones, toxic pesticides, or GMOs. Our cows spend much of their time outdoors grazing on fresh pastures — and the farms in our cooperative follow USDA Organic Standards plus our own cooperative standards. By purchasing organic milk like Family First from Organic Valley you are supporting family farms that are protecting where your food comes from.

Family First whole and reduced fat 2% milk is available on shelves today. Enjoy a nice cool glass, pour into cereal, or use it in cooking and baking just like our other milks. Visit our store locator tool to find Family First near you.
