More than 100 farms joined the co-op in the past few years, including 84 in 2023. Some of these farms have been in a family for generations and others are first-time farm owners. Thank you for supporting Organic Valley and its small organic farms!

Organic Valley celebrated its 35th birthday in 2023. In 1988, big hair was in, Ford Escorts were hot and organic farming wasn’t really a thing (it certainly is now!). Let’s look at some bodacious comparisons in trends between 1988 and 2023.

Dairy farming in winter includes regular chores like milking cows and feeding animals. There are winter farming chores not typical in other seasons. Snow must be plowed, animal bedding constantly freshened and farm equipment often needs extra attention.

Organic Valley farmers know all things cows — dairy cows — so we had to find experts to answer questions about reindeer. Why? It may seem unusual, but we want to know if reindeer and cows have things in common (like, are cows and reindeer related?)!

Soil conservation is top of mind for organic farmers and they will do all they can to protect it. Ninety percent of the Earth’s topsoil may be at risk by 2050. Let’s look at how Organic Valley farmers use healthy pastures to help create healthy soil.

Who would have thought that soil and humans have things in common? Soil impacts our human senses and has its own senses. Let’s look at soil as it correlates to sound, taste, touch, sight and smell. What goes on underneath our toes is pretty amazing.
